Posting Guidelines

Over the past several weeks, the Beagle and I have been in discussions to implement some posting guidelines/rules. We'll be listing them on their own Rules page after today. However we felt it was best to go ahead and post them in a featured comment so that everyone gets a chance to see, and review them.

Now, before anyone gets all shook up...as long as you're respectful to other posters, you won't see anything change. We just want to be able to have some basic rules in place to follow, in the event that someone gets outta hand. With a written set of guidelines, it will be easier to deal with any situation that might arise in the future.

Effective immediately, these are the baseline rules which we will all be asked to adhere to. Please let me know if you have any questions, or concerns.

Thanks! And happy posting.

Brand New Posting guidelines!

Any offenses are subject to the discretion of the Moderator. If you are found to be in violation of the guidelines, you will receive a warning. If you ignore the warning, or the behavior in question continues, you may be subject to a time-out. The length of the time-out will be at the discretion of the Moderator. If after returning from the time-out, the behavior still continues, then you may be subject to a longer ban, either temporary or permanent. This will also be at the discretion of the Moderator. These rules are being put in place as a set of guidelines to follow. Ultimately, all decisions regarding time-outs, or bans are at the discretion of the Moderator. We never wanted to do this, and didn't have to for a long time. Unfortunately, over time it's been decided that a set of guidelines is necessary. Behave, and nothing changes. Respect your fellow posters, act like an adult, and everything will remain the same.

Guidelines:

1) Please limit vulgarity.

2) No impersonating of other posters. AT ALL! Initial violation of this rule will result in an immediate time-out, and a possible ban.

3) Do not personally attack other posters. If you disagree with someone, then argue your point. But do so respectfully, and engage in a civil manner. There's no need to refer to other posters as "cunt", "faggot", or any other slur of the racial, sexist, or bigoted variety. This isn't a junior high school. We're all adults here. As with all other rules, the discretion of enforcement is left to the Moderator.

4) No spam. Any post deemed to be spam will immediately be removed.

5) Try not to blatantly plagiarize comments. Copying and pasting portions of articles is encouraged, but please link the source of the information. The occasional infraction will be ignored, but if it becomes a habitual pattern, you will receive a warning...which could result in an eventual time-out.

6) Have fun! This is by far, the most important rule of all. We're all here to enjoy ourselves. Try not to take everything too seriously. After all, it's just the internet.
