Thank you all for 7 wonderful years. How did we get here? After several years of posting with an awesome group of people at TVNewser, I felt like we were family. Due to a tyrannical moderator, Jordan Chariton, our family was being threatened with extinction. I didn't want that to happen. I wanted to make sure there was a way for us to communicate and keep in touch. That was all. A landing platform to let people know where they went. Little did I know that someone in our family would shout it out like a battle cry... 'HEY!!! TRUTHBEAGLE HAS SOMETHING OVER THERE!!!' Then 'whoosh'. A little known page with a few articles I wrote became a new permanent home for this great, diverse group of people.
How did that happen and what was the timeline? Here is part of a post I put out recently to let someone know...why we are here:
"Many of us posted at another site for many years. I started posting with that group in 2009. They had already been there a while.
It was a cable ratings site called 'TVNewser' that we now refer to as 'The Sewer'. Thus...the 'cable ratings' reference. We posted in a ratings page, so they had no problem with discussion that wasn't 'topical'. How many times can you say 'Fox blew everyone away again'.
We were going along fine for many years. When we got out of hand they had moderators who would give a warning, then explain why if they deleted a comment. It was nice. Then they got this totalitarian moderator, Jordan Charitan. All of a sudden our comments started getting deleted purely on ideology. NO 'violation of terms'. I had a post I spent hours on go, and said WTF???
In February of 2014 we had A LOT of comments deleted. I call it the 'February Bloodbath'. Because that was going on, I created a page... 'TVNewser Emergency Meeting Location'. We had almost become like a family, and I wanted a way for everyone to keep in touch in case they shut their comment section down. It looks like I created this comment section on on February 13, 2014. Levin and Zoner checked it out on February 14th and 15th. It sat waiting...'just in case'.
Comments deleted...comments deleted...then they shut one of the pages down. They closed commenting for that day. April 7 of 2014, someone said 'HEY!!! TRUTHBEAGLE HAS THIS PAGE OVER THERE!!!'. BOOM. Everyone jumped over to it and decided it should be a permanent home. I went from traffic of zero to over 150 people in one instant. We had more people posting, and A LOT of lurkers. I looked just now and that first page has 828 comments. I think it did eventually have closer to or more than 2,000, but as people have deleted profiles over the years it deletes all of their comments. :-(
We immediately took their several hundred to over 1,000 comments daily, and they went down to......about 10 comments a day. For months someone would post the comment count from over there."
Many from the original group are still here. Some of our family has wandered off. Maybe some of those 'wanderers' will return. It does happen occasionally. At least one of our cherished family members has passed on, recon3e3. He is greatly missed, and I hope he still laughs at us. He might even grumble a little that he can't dive back into the scuffle.
